Inner:
This is so weird waking up on my own time and getting ready
for my day with no set plan. I have not had a good night of sleep in a while
and last night was well needed!
When I opened my eyes this morning I almost jumped out of
bed because my alarm had not gone off and I thought I was late for something.
Looking around the room and noticing that everyone was still in bed brought me
back to reality and I realized it was our free day. I laid back down and browsed
through my phone. Between my three friends and I we discussed what we would be
doing today. A little time passed, and I realized I had begun to get hungry, so
I decided to go down stairs and get breaks. Waffle and coffee? Sounds like a
treat to me!
We decided to go to the Garden District today and see what
life was like for the natives of New Orleans. I have come to a conclusion that
not all New Orleans dress in bright colors and have funky wardrobes, but in my
opinion most if not all New Orleans are friendly. I am all about speaking to people
and making small talk. There have been so many times back home when I speak to
people and they look at me like I am crazy while ignoring the hi I greeted them
with. There is truly a comforting feeling when you are around the people here. I
do not think I have ran into anyone that has made me feel uncomfortable. What
is better than being able to be yourself? Watching people walk around dressed
in whatever they want and not being judge brings happiness. Bullying is everywhere
as we know and living somewhere that you are not expected to look, dress, and
act a certain way teaches children that it is ok to be different and not
everyone is the same. Walking down the street hearing music playing and watching
performs brings so much life to the town.
We went to the mall today which was pretty fun besides the
fact that they did not have my size in the shoe I wanted. SIDE TRACK. That
reminds me when I’m done blogging I need to search for them on the web. BACK ON
TRACK. While in the mall and going through the different stores I noticed that
I was not constantly being followed while shopping. For instance, when going
shopping it is normal to great, ask if help is needed, and stay visible just
incase someone needs help. Back home things don’t really turn out that way, I
don’t know if it’s just me or if they do it to everyone. At home you go into a
store and of course are greeted (sometimes) and after that it seems like the
person is stuck to you, sometimes it is just really hard to shop in peace. Here
they follow the first way I mentioned and I love it and makes shopping
comfortable and doesn’t feel like someone’s constantly breathing down your
neck.
