As the train finally came to a stop I realized we have made
it! I did not know what to expect when I walked off the train. People were
talking, meeting with family, and rushing to get their luggage and out to a
cab. When we finally made it outside I realized that New Orleans was not
exactly how I thought it was. When I thought about New Orleans I thought it
would remind me lots of Vegas, people everywhere, loud streets, and
entertainment everywhere. As we walked from our hotel from dinner I notice that
all of the doors were really tall and had multiple locks. I wondered if it was
like this because of the possible floods they may get or if it was just the
style from the French and Spanish culture. The streets are very narrow and
traffic was not what I thought it would be. We were able to cross the street
freely without waiting for tons of cars to go by. While walking I realized that
a lot of the streets look like alleys and everyone puts their trash on the
street which I did not understand. All of
the stores were closed which I thought was pretty weird because it was only 9 p.m.
Coming to the hotel and finally getting a hot shower and unwind is amazing. It
seriously feels like forever since I showered. Today has taught me a lot. Patience
is something I struggle with but while traveling and with other people you must
stay patient. If you will be upset and frustrated if you don’t think twice
about other and how it is not just about everyone thinking, feeling, and moving
like you. I am grateful for this opportunity and am excited for everything else
we have to come. Yesterday/today was not the best and we had a bunch of mile
stones we had to overcome, but I did not add it in because I would like to
leave it in the past and move on to everything we have planned.
