Outer:
So today we finally made it to our destination they couldn’t
get the doors opened fast enough for me.
After being on the train
for 17 hours we are headed to the hotel to freshen up before dinner. Stepping
off the train feeling the cool breeze hit my face. I can not believe it I am
really in New Orleans.
I did not know what
to expect when we walked out of the train station besides the 37-degree weather,
which is not insanely warm I understand but compared to what the weather is
back home this is the life. We caught an uber to our hotel which was really
interesting. I am really new to using uber and still am amazed by how you use
an application on your phone to contact people for a ride. Our uber driver name
was Jose and he made us feel comfortable with good conversation. Fun fact about
this whole uber experience is that he’s from Chicago and he knew what Peoria
was unlike most people when you travel. We arrived at the hotel where our
instructor was waiting for us in the lobby. The lobby of our hotel is so
modernized. The lighting is great and the furniture is funky and fun. We went
to our room and tried to get situation to the best of our ability. Our room is
really nice and has a refrigerator just incase we want to bring food home for
later. After getting situated in the bed we had to meet back downstairs in
order to walk to Original Pierre Maspero’s, the restaurant we would be eating
at.
I never eat outside
my comfort zone but I have decided that I will broaden my spectrum while I’m
her in New Orleans. I am going to put my big girl pants on and I am going to
try new foods while I am here. I decided to go with an entrée that is called “hot
brown”; it was French toast, topped with fried turkey, cheese, and bacon. I had
never had anything like it before and I loved it! The sweet smell of the French
toast mixed in with the smell of the turkey, bacon, and cheeeeese omg! I never
would have thought of a combination like that, but boy am I thankful for
whoever came up with that idea.
This was great the service was spectacular and the people
are so friendly. Walking down the streets of New Orleans for the first time was
pretty fun. I am excited to see what day life is like. We missed out on all of
the people and performances because it is so cold out side and we arrived so
late, but tomorrow we start our first full day in New Orleans. What should I
expect? I have no clue. Am I ready for this adventure? Oh heck yes! The weather
is suppose to be a high 46 degrees with the sun shining tomorrow and I could
not be happier.
