Free Day!

 Outer:
Today shall be a good day! The weathers nice and it’s the begging for for the towns carnival season (as we know mardi gras season). We talked over everything and we decided that we were going to go with the flow today. We say no schedule no problem, we can plan as we go. We started our day off in the mall. Now I've been to a lot of malls, but I have not been to one that sells alcohol in them. The entrance we went in was right next to the food court and boom! Alcohol everywhere! I saw this place that I really liked that's called Fast Tuesday's which is a frozen daiquiri place. I am not a big drinker but when I see a Fat Tuesday's I must pay respect lol. So with that being said the first thing I bought at the mall was Fat Tuesday's and might I tell you it was quite delicious. I was not sure what type I wanted to get today so I was asking to try a couple because I knew for sure I would mix it with something else. There was a guy sitting at the stand and told me exactly what to get and although I did not know him I went ahead and ordered it and what do you know, it was amazing! Shopping until you drop was not my case today because I am so sad about shoes I really wanted out of this Steve Maden store. The shoes kind of remind you of a tom show but has a thinker sole. The top of the shoe was sparkly and it just fit my personality. The gentlemen that were working search all around for the shoe for me and we got close but no cigar.
Fast Forward, Parade time!
So after a day full of adventure it was time to get to the French Quarters for beginning of carnival season parade. We get a uber and head to the St. Louis Cathedral, well at least we thought that was where we were going. The streets were so packed that we could only get half way there, but where our uber dropped us of the parade was passing by. We got out and rushed to the crowd. Now me being the Ebonnie that I am had to find my way to the front and somehow, I made it. The parade was close to the end but in all we were there to say we got to experience some of it. I even got a little keep sake from a lady in the parade. After the streets cleared because the parade had moved on we walked around and made our way to the ST. Louis Cathedral. By surprise we met back up with the parade and got to see more. People were all dressed up with their families to enjoy the parade. This must be a huge deal! Not only were the streets full but the balconies on the buildings as well. This was such a great experience.

Now I did not forget, off to search the web for those shoes! 😊

Free Day!

Inner:
This is so weird waking up on my own time and getting ready for my day with no set plan. I have not had a good night of sleep in a while and last night was well needed!
When I opened my eyes this morning I almost jumped out of bed because my alarm had not gone off and I thought I was late for something. Looking around the room and noticing that everyone was still in bed brought me back to reality and I realized it was our free day. I laid back down and browsed through my phone. Between my three friends and I we discussed what we would be doing today. A little time passed, and I realized I had begun to get hungry, so I decided to go down stairs and get breaks. Waffle and coffee? Sounds like a treat to me!
On the Town.

We decided to go to the Garden District today and see what life was like for the natives of New Orleans. I have come to a conclusion that not all New Orleans dress in bright colors and have funky wardrobes, but in my opinion most if not all New Orleans are friendly. I am all about speaking to people and making small talk. There have been so many times back home when I speak to people and they look at me like I am crazy while ignoring the hi I greeted them with. There is truly a comforting feeling when you are around the people here. I do not think I have ran into anyone that has made me feel uncomfortable. What is better than being able to be yourself? Watching people walk around dressed in whatever they want and not being judge brings happiness. Bullying is everywhere as we know and living somewhere that you are not expected to look, dress, and act a certain way teaches children that it is ok to be different and not everyone is the same. Walking down the street hearing music playing and watching performs brings so much life to the town.
We went to the mall today which was pretty fun besides the fact that they did not have my size in the shoe I wanted. SIDE TRACK. That reminds me when I’m done blogging I need to search for them on the web. BACK ON TRACK. While in the mall and going through the different stores I noticed that I was not constantly being followed while shopping. For instance, when going shopping it is normal to great, ask if help is needed, and stay visible just incase someone needs help. Back home things don’t really turn out that way, I don’t know if it’s just me or if they do it to everyone. At home you go into a store and of course are greeted (sometimes) and after that it seems like the person is stuck to you, sometimes it is just really hard to shop in peace. Here they follow the first way I mentioned and I love it and makes shopping comfortable and doesn’t feel like someone’s constantly breathing down your neck.

Inner Thought Today

Music, cemeteries, ghost, ohhh boy!

Jeeze it’s cold!
I know I should not complain about the weather because back home is sooo cold but boy oh boy when you are walking outside in between buildings, the sun is blocked, and the wind is blowing there is nothing to warm you up. My leggings were definitely not the best thing to choose today. I have my earmuffs on, sweatshirt, boots, and winter coat and I just don’t think I have enough clothes on, not to mention that its about 45 degrees.

Today was quite an adventure. My experience today hanging out with Milton was the highlight of my day. He has such an entertaining and carrying personality. When I first saw Milton he had a Yellow coat on with a speaker around his neck and iPod in his hand. My thoughts were this man definitely knows what he is doing. He spoke with passion and although it was history we were learning about he definitely made it seem like he was right there through it all.
Someone say ghost because I did not see it.
The ghost tour we went on was more of an history tour if you ask me. I do not want to be rude but Ina our tour guide did not convince me one bit. She was such a sweet lady and very enthusiastic when she spoke but as far as ghost I just don't know. She showed us picture of people who say the caption a ghost while taking an image and it just did not seem to be real. With all of the technology we have today it is so easy to manipulate and change things to portray whatever you want. I thought it was pretty funny that after every stop and her explaining the ghost story she kind of made a point going and purchasing something from the place. It seemed like the tour company have contract with the restaurants to promote them before leaving and encouraging us to buy something.
